March 7, 2011

Wow- just realized how long it's been since I blogged! I was away enjoying the sunny south for about a month, and since then- well, time flies!
The guild has been busy during this time of run- up to the show ( April 30 and May 1). We'll be setting up on Friday - so please let Sandra know if you'll be available, as well as your availability over the weekend- we need lots of help!

Shortly, Mary T. will need your info to register your quilts for showing- so start gathering together such details as- name of quilt, acknowledgment of who created the design/pattern, size, etc. Mary will let you know exactly what (I seem to recall a photo is needed, too.) We have a nice big hall - so lots of quilts, please.

We had a work day a week or so ago to start Christmas Place Mats which we will continue to make at the show (sort of an on-going show -and-tell). These are part of this year's community project, for which we won a bursary, as perhaps you recall. We plan to give them to the Montreal West Meals on Wheels. We also started a scrap top for an Elizabeth House mother, and plan to do more of these. We were given some wonderful fabric by Peter Russell, and we can think of no better way to use something that was so special to his late wife.

Last week, Audrey showed us how to make some very quick and wonderful little jewelry bags. She still has patterns, so ask for one if you weren't able to be with us.

I missed a great colour workshop (thanks, Julia),and a paper piecing one (thanks Alison). I was back for the binding workshop, which was very informative. We have been busy!!!

Now- coming up to the show- we need contributions for the raffle basket( any time now- give to Colleen or Linda) and contributions to the Silent Auction ( tell Mary T. or Lise your intentions- think they might have a form to fill in soon.) For the Silent Auction, this can be anything you think might sell- not necessarily quilt related- could be an offer of lessons, gift certificate to a restaurant, etc. etc. For the raffle basket- something "quilty" is best- a book, notions, etc.

Sorry - pictures will have to wait .

Happy quilting!
