Tip for Today

After cutting all your binding, wrap it around an empty toilet paper roll, put a string through it, and wear it around your neck. Your binding won't get tangled, or get trapped under the legs of your chair.

Good Morning Everyone:

Sorry I am a little late, my batteries wore down, hence my delay and also missing some pics.

Great meeting Tuesday night. Although Mary Sinclair was not able to join us because of an emergency back home, her daughter, Julia, did a wonderful job of enlightening us on the powers of selvage! Following are some pics of Julia and a rug hooked with selvages and if you look closely you can also see a tea cozy, and what about that beautiful lap quilt! So much talent! It was a lot of fun and I bet more than a few of us will not look at our selvages again in the same way. Thanks Julia!!!

The rest of the evening was taken up planning for the CQQ meeting coming up in October and Show and Tell and what a show it was!

This is Rita, a new member, with her quilt.

Linda with one of the quilts to go to the Elizabeth House and the one she started
in this weekend's workshop.

This beauty was make by Jae who joined us last year
never having quilted before. This was made over
the summer, if you can believe it!
Quite an achievement.

Audrey and her circles (sorry about the blur), France with hers, and Allison (missing from the pic) with hers - all workshop masterpieces.

Unfortunately, this is just a portion of all the beautiful quilts we saw, but as I said, unfortunately my batteries died. Hopefully, we'll see some of the missing ones another time and my camera will be up and running.

So far, a great start to the new season!!!

Happy quilting everyone!

Weekend Workshops

Amazing that Allison was able to post on Sunday evening. I think probably the rest of us were in bed!!! exhausted from a weekend of working! Anyway, it was great fun - Bethany Garner is a great teacher!! She even managed to get me to open the lid on my "box" just a little. A few more shots for you.

Weekend workshop

Saturday and Sunday were spent doing quilting things with Bethany Garner from Kingston. She does wonderful freeform quilting. On Saturday she started with a mini trunk show and passed around some of her quilts for inspiration. Then she helped us get started with our own pieces. On Sunday we moved on to "quilts in the circular realm". Once again in a freeform style but this time with an emphasis on circular motifs. There were 10 people in the class and 10 very different designs taking shape. It will be great to see how they all end up!!

New Season Starts!!

Hi Everyone:

Well, last night was the start of a new and very promising season. I'd like to introduce you all to our new bosses! Starting on the left, Julia, Mary and Audrey.

Mary introduced our two new members, Rita, on right with her computer carrier. Real funky, fun fabric!!! Our other newby is Debbie. Hopefully she'll have something to show us next time.

We fine tuned some details about our upcoming workshops with Bethany Garner, one day will be "Quilts in the Circular Realm", the other day will be "Creative Design in Patchwork". There are still one or two spots open, so if you're interested, let Allison know. Weekend of Sept. 16 & 17 at Loblaws, corner St. Jacques and Cavendish. allison_haggarty@hotmail.com.

div>Julia wowed us with all the plans she has for us for the upcoming year. We are going to be very busy little beavers, oops, quilters!!!! Our next meeting, Sept. 20, we are going to have a very exciting, entertaining visitor, Mary Sinclair!!!! We enjoyed Mary's bubbling laughter at our Quilt Show and we are all looking forward to seeing her again. Jennifer from Picket Fence in Brockville, will be visiting in October for a trunk show, and of course, she will be bringing goodies!!! Just a taste of all the inspiring things to come!

Here are some pics of our Show and Tell.

Not the best job with the pics, but, oh well!! Enjoy!! See you in a couple of weeks.
